Michael May Never Be Buried

Michael Jackson's burial has been postponed from what would have been Michael's 51st birthday, August 29th, until September 3rd. The Jackson family plans to lay him to rest in the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn-Glendale Cemetery in Los Angeles; the mausoleum boasts a stained glass replica of Leonaro DaVinci's The Last Supper and replicas of Michelangelo statues. A Jackson spokesperson gave no explanation for the delay.

Personally, I think Katherine should have given more thought to having Michael interred at Neverland Ranch both for security reasons and for future benefit of the estate; turning Neverland into a nouveau Graceland would provide a steady stream of revenue for the trust. It would also give Michael's fans a place to focus their grief and congregate in celebration, and it would rehabilitate the image of the estate itself, effectively erasing most of the negative associations of the property and the salatious allegations swirling around it.

GQ is talking slick about Michael

Magazine publishers know a surefire way to move issues in this economy is to put Michael Jackson on the cover and GQ is no exception. The magazine features Michael on its upcoming September 2009 issue with the tagline "When Michael Was Cool." Former Def Jam exec. and ex-beau of Michael's sister Janet, Jermaine Dupri, took umbrage to backhanded compliment to the late King of Pop.

"HOT COVER WACK AZZ TITLE. SEE THIS IS THE SHIT THAT PISSES ME OFF PEOPLE WANNA USE THIS MAN TO MAKE THEM MONEY BUT CONTINUE TO THROW LIL SNEAK DISSES. AS FAR AS ANY FAN WOULD SAY, HE WAS COOL HIS WHOLE LIFE. I SAY THAT BECAUSE THE FANS ARE THE ONES THAT’S GONNA MAKE THIS COVER SELL 3 TIMES MORE MAGAZINES THAN THE LAST ONE SO WHY TITLE IT THIS?"
I happen to agree with JD. Members of the media have been talking slick about Michael for years; the sly criticism and denial of his musical and philanthropic contributions has increased exponentially since his passing. I for one, intend fire off a letter to the editor at GQ. (I write a lot of letters, both positive and negative, to a lot of companies; some companies ignore you, but you would be surprised at the responses I have gotten.) I think it is ridiculous the story would repeat the completely unfounded claims of Ian Halperin as well as shore up Martin Bashir's Satan-like deceptive journalistic tactics.

Million Dollar Michael

A portrait of Michael Jackson by legendary painter Andy Warhol sold yesterday for upwards of $1 million. An anonymous buyer bought the 30" X 26" painting of a beaming Michael dressed in his red leather "Thriller" jacket from The Vered Gallery in East Hampton New York. The gallery owner declined to disclose the final purchase price but revealed it was well over a million dollars.

Spike Lee is throwing Michael Jackson a 51st Birthday Party

Michael Jackson - They Don't Care About Us (Official Music Video) -
You could say that Spike Lee always had a special connection to Michael Jackson: They were born a year apart, both to musical families. Back in the day, every Saturday morning, Lee, like many other black kids across the country, sat down in front of the TV, glued to the “Jackson 5” cartoons. “We’re of the same era,” Lee told The Root. “I wanted my Afro to be perfectly round like Michael’s, all that stuff.”
Years later, the two ended up working together, collaborating on a music video for “They Don’t Care About Us” in Brazil. The two never worked together again, but Lee found himself hit hard by Jackson’s death.
So he decided to throw Michael a birthday party.
Not just any birthday party: A “Brooklyn style block party,” Lee says. “It’s going to just be how we do it, Brooklyn style, I’ll leave it at that. It’s going to be a joyous, festive, celebratory party.” Free.
Anybody and everybody is invited to attend Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday party on Saturday, August 29, from noon to 5 p.m., at Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn, New York. DJ Spinna will be spinning all things Jackson, from the Jackson 5 to the Jacksons to Michael Jackson. The Brooklyn borough president will be on hand to declare Aug. 29 “Michael Jackson Day.”
