Common Beat Jacking (17 years ago)

Andrew Marks and London McDaniels filed a lawsuit Monday, claiming Common stole their 1978 song “When Will The Day Come” in his 1992 tune “Take it EZ" from his debut cd "Can I Borrow a Dollar?" Common does give Marks and McDaniels credit on the downloadable version of his song and openly admits the theft. However, it's not considered the appropriate authorization (which means they should also get a royalty check) and they are demanding unspecified damages for the infringement.
